معرفی دانشگاه وندربیلت
دانشگاه وندربیلت ( Vanderbilt University) که گاهی بصورت غیررسمی وندی هم نامیده می‌شود نام دانشگاهی خصوصی در کشور ایالات متحده آمریکا می‌باشد. وندربیلت در سال ۱۸۷۳ در شهر نشویل در ایالت تنسی آغاز بکار نمود. نشویل مرکز ایالت تنسی آمریکا می‌باشد. این شهر مرکز موسیقی، خدمات سلامت و درمان، چاپ و نشر، صنایع بانکداری و حمل و نقل و خانه‌ای برای بسیاری از کالج‌ها و مراکز دانشگاهی می‌باشد. شهر نشویل به دلیل موقعیت آن در صنعت موسیقی لقب میوزیک سیتی یو.اس.ای را به خود گرفته است.نشویل به دلیل ارزان بودن نسبی زندگی پذیرای بسیاری از مهاجرین بوده‌است. بطوریکه جمعیت شهروندان متولد خارج از ایالات متحده این شهر بین ۱۹۹۰-۲۰۰۰ سه برابر شده است. بیشترین گروه‌های مهاجر این شهر مکزیکی، کرد، ویتنامی، عرب، لاتین، و سومالیایی می‌باشند.
نام دانشگاه به افتخار غول بزرگ ترابری دریایی و ترابری ریلی، کرنلیوس وندربیلت، می‌باشد. او با وجود آنکه هیچ‌گاه به جنوب ایالات متحده سفر نکرده‌بود یک میلیون دلار به تأسیس این دانشگاه اعطا نمود. وندربیلت این امید را داشت که ساخت بزرگتر دانشگاه به ترمیم زخم‌های موضعی در نتیجه جنگ داخلی آمریکا کمک کند.امروزه این دانشگاه در حدود ۱۲۰۰۰ دانشجو از همه ۵۰ ایالت آمریکا و از بیش از ۱۰۰ کشور خارجی در چهار مدرسه تحصیلات عالی و شش مدره تحصیلات تکمیلی را در خود دارد. چندین مرکز تحقیقاتی نیز به این دانشگاه وابسته می‌باشند. به غیر از کلینیک‌ها اقماری پزشکی رسدخانه همه مدارس و مراکز دانشگاه در زمین ۳۰۰ هکتاری دانشگاه واقع در یک و نیم مایلی از مرکز شهر نشویل می‌باشند. پردیس این دانشگاه به تنهایی یک باغ ملی به شمار می‌آید که بیش از ۳۰۰ گونه درخت و درختچه را در خود جای داده‌است.وندربیلت برای آموزش عالی، فرصت‌های تحقیقاتی، و سطح تحصیلات تکمیلی یکی از دانشگاه‌های معتبر در ایالات متحده به شمار می‌آید.
کمپس وندربیلت در جنوب غربی شهر نشویل واقع است. دانشکده ها، کلیه امکانات تفریحی، آموزشی، فرهنگی و ورزشی در این کمپس وجود دارند. این کمپس خوابگاه نیز برای دانشجویان خارجی ارائه می دهد. فضای سبزاین کمپس به خاطر قدمت فراوان خود شهرت دارند.دانشگاه وندربیلت در حیطه علوم پزشکی دارای وجهه بین‌المللی، و همواره در میان موسسات برتر علوم پزشکی آمریکا می‌باشد. این موسسه خصوصی، دارای یک مرکز درمانی بسیار معتبر نیز می‌باشد.این دانشگاه در یواس نیوز اند ورلد ریپورت سکوی ۱۵ ام بهترین دانشگاه‌های ملی رتبه‌بندی شده‌است.
