معرفی دانشگاه مریلند
دانشگاه مریلند در کالج پارک (University of Maryland, College Park) یکی از معتبرترین دانشگاه‌های دولتی ایالات متحده آمریکا بوده و در ایالت مریلند واقع شده‌است. این دانشگاه، یکی از اصلی‌ترین مراکزِ علمی مشورت دهنده به دولت فدرال ایالات متحده آمریکا است ویکی از مراکز آکادمیک پژوهش عمومی در نزدیکی واشنگتن دی سی، پایتخت آمریکاست.
این دانشگاه در سال 1856 به عنوان دانشکده کشاورزی احداث شد و تنها 4 استاد و 35 دانشجو داشت،اما امروزه یکی از مراکز آکادمیک پیشتاز آمریکا در زمینه پژوهشی است، و 38,000 دانشجو از بیش از130 کشور جهان در آن به تحصیل و پژوهش مشغولند.
دانشگاه مریلند سه برنده جایزه نوبل، و هفت برنده جایزه پولیتزر به جامعه آمریکا ارائه کرده و بیش از 40 عضو هیأت علمی معتبرترین دانشگاه های کشور دانش آموخته این دانشگاه هستند. این دانشگاه یک موتور قدرتمند اقتصادی برای ایالت مریلند است و سالانه 3.5 میلیارد دلار به اقتصاد این ایالت کمک می کند، 25,000 شغل در بازار کار این ایالت ایجاد می کند، و بیش از نیم میلیون دلار بودجه پژوهشی را به این ایالت جذب می کند.
انستیتوی مطالعات ایرانی روشن سال ۲۰۰۴ با این ایده بلندپروازانه تأسیس شد که به مرکز اصلی برای آموزش، درک و شناخت فرهنگ ایرانی در آمریکا تبدیل شود. برای رسیدن به این هدف، انستیتو روشن تلاش کرده تا واحدها و برنامه های ویژه ای در زمینه آموزش زبان، ادبیات، تاریخ و فرهنگ ایران عرضه کند؛ ارتباطات و پیوندهای اجتماعی میان ایرانیان و ایرانی تباران با علاقمندان به مطالعات ایرانی را تقویت کند؛ و الگویی باشد برای تشویق به ارتباطات بین فرهنگی میان افرادی با پیشینه های متفاوت.دکتر فاطمه کشاورز در سال ۲۰۱۲ به مرکز مطالعات ایرانی روشن در دانشگاه مریلند پیوست و علاوه بر کرسی استادی زبان و ادبیات فارسی، مدیریت مرکز را هم عهده دار شد.
دانشگاه مریلند به دلیل نزدیکی به پایتخت کشور در همکاری های تحقیقاتی با دولت فدرال دیده می شود . اعضای هیات علمی بودجه های تحقیقاتی و پشتیبانی فروانی از سازمان هایی نظیر موسسه ملی بهداشت، سازمان ملی هوانوردی و فضا (ناسا)، موسسه ملی استاندارد و فناوری و وزارت امنیت داخلی دریافت می کنند.
