معرفی دانشگاه فلوریدا
دانشگاه فلوریدا ( University of Florida) به عنوان چهارمین دانشگاه بزرگ آمریکا، همواره یکی از بزرگ‌ترین دانشگاه‌های ایالات متحده آمریکا بوده که در شهر گینزویل در ایالت فلوریدا واقع شده‌است. فلوریدا دانشگاهی عمومی می باشد که در سال ۱۸۵۳ تأسیس شده است. در آغاز کار این دانشگاه تنها مردان سفیدپوست اجازه ثبت‌نام داشتند. از سال ۱۹۴۷ میلادی زنان سفیدپوست اجازه ثبت‌نام پیدا کردند و از سال ۱۹۵۸ میلادی سیاهپوستان هم اجازه ثبت‌نام پیدا کردند. این دانشگاه بیش از ۵۱ هزار دانشجو دارد.دانشگاه فلوریدا هم‌اکنون دارای ۱۶ دانشکده است که بیش از ۱۰۰ رشته کارشناسی و ۲۰۰ رشته کارشناسی ارشد ارائه می‌دهند.
بیشتر ایرانیان ساکن شهر گینزویل به عنوان دانشجو یا استاد در دانشگاه فلوریدا مشغول به کار هستند. انجمن دانشجویان ایرانی دانشگاه فلوریدا (Persian Students Society) در سال ۱۹۹۸تأسیس شده‌است و در حال حاضر ۶۰ عضو فعال دارد.از فعالیت‌های فعلی این انجمن می‌توان به برگزاری مهمانی‌های مختلف در مناسبت‌های ویژه اشاره کرد.
تیم های ورزشی فلوریدا درNCAA Division I در جنوب شرقی رقابت می کنند. تازه واردان مجبور نیستند در محوطه دانشگاه زندگی کنند ولی بیش از 75 درصد آنان در دانشگاه اقامت دارند.همه دانشجویان می توانند در شب های Gator شرکت کنند که هر جمعه برگزار می شود. این دانشگاه همچنین با جامعه بازنشستگی Oak Hammock همکاری می کند جایی که دانشجویان میتوانند کار کنند، کارآموزی خود را تکمیل و برای خود مربیانی پیدا کنند.
دانشگاه فلوریدا یک موسسه آموزشی وسیع است که بر پایه ی زمین های اعطا شده، ساخته شده است.دانشگاه فلوریدا از یک جامعه متنوع با هدف تعالی در زمینه آموزش و تحقیقات و ساخت آینده ای بهتر برای آمریکا و تمام جهان تشکیل شده است. ماموریت فلوریدا این است که تواناسازی دانشجویان برای رهبری و تاثیر گذاری بر نسل های بعدی و کمکبه پیشرفت اقتصاد، فرهنگ و اجتماع می باشد. فلوریدا عضو انجمن دانشگاه های آمریکا بوده است که شامل 62 موسسه عمومی و خصوصی برتر در آمریکای شمالی می باشد و یکی از تنها شش دانشگاه آمریکا با کالج های پزشکی، مهندسی، حقوق، کشاورزی و دامپزشکی در یک کمپس می باشد.
فلوریدا ایالتی است در جنوب شرق آمریکا و یکی از ایالت‌های جنوبی آمریکا به‌شمار می‌رود. این ایالت نزدیک‌ترین ایالت آمریکا به کشور کوبا می باشد.ایالت فلوریدا گوشه جنوب شرقی ایالات متحده آمریکا را تشکیل داده‌است. این شبه جزیره اقیانوس اطلس و خلیج مکزیک را از هم جدا می‌کند شهر کی وست فلوریدا جنوبی‌ترین شهر در تمام ایالات متحده آمریکا به‌شمار می‌آید. ایالت فلوریدا اقلیمی ملایم دارد. آب و هوای این ایالت در شمال نیمه‌گرمسیری و در جنوب گرمسیری است. سواحل آن وسیع است و مناظر زیبا دارد. در آب‌های اطراف آن نیز ماهیگیری تفریحی رواج دارد. فلوریدا تنها ایالت آمریکا است که هم در خلیج مکزیک و هم با اقیانوس اطلس ساحل دارد. در سال ۲۰۱۲، این ایالت تولید ناخالص داخلی برابر با ۸۴۳٬۰۹۱ میلیارد دلار داشت، که نزدیک به تولید ناخالص داخلی کشور اندونزی بود. یکی از ویژگی‌های مهم این ایالت واقع شدن پایگاه فضایی کندی در آن است که پایگاه پرتاب سفینه‌های فضایی ناسا است. این مکان همچنین یکی از جاذبه‌های گردشی فلوریدا می باشد.
