معرفی دانشگاه خرونینگن
دانشگاه خرونینگن (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) (مخفف : RUG) دانشگاهی پژوهشی- عمومی در شهر خرونینگن هلند می باشد. این دانشگاه در سال ۱۶۱۴ تأسیس شد و یکی از قدیمی‌ترین دانشگاه‌ها در هلند و همچنین یکی از بزرگترین آن‌ها است. از زمان آغاز به کار این دانشگاه بیش از ۲۰۰۰۰۰ دانشجو از آن فارغ‌التحصیل شده‌اند.دانشگاه خرونینگن دارای ده دانشکده، نُه مدرسه فارغ‌التحصیلی، ۲۷ مرکز مؤسسهٔ تحقیقاتی، و بیش از ۱۷۵ برنامه کارشناسی می باشد.
در دانشگاه گرونینگن واحد مجزایی برای رباتیک درنظر گرفته نشده است، اما دانشجویان دانشکده مهندسی این دانشگاه هر ساله در رقابت‌های رباتیک مختلفی در سراسر جهان شرکت می‌کنند و حائز رتبه‌های برتر در دسته‌بندی‌های مختلف می‌شوند.این دانشگاه سابقه زیادی از اولین ها را دارد مانند: اولین دانشجوی زن کشور، اولین استاد زن، اولین فضانورد هلندی و اولین رئيس بانک مرکزی اروپا.
خرونینگن نام شهری است که در استانی به همین نام در شمال هلند قرار دارد و مرکز اقتصادی- فرهنگی شمال هلند به شمار می‌رود.عمده شهرت این شهر به دلیل وجود دانشگاه خرونینگن و جمعیت بالای دانشجویان در این شهر است. جمعیت این شهر حدود ۱۸۵۰۰۰ نفر است که نیمی از آن را افراد زیر ۳۵ سال تشکیل می‌دهند.از مکان‌های دیدنی این شهر می‌توان به برج کلیسای مارتینی، بازار ماهی (Vismarkt)، موزه هنرهای معاصر خرونینگن، ساختمان قدیمی ایستگاه راه آهن، ساختمان تالار شهر و ساختمان تالار موسیقی آن اشاره کرد.اهمیت اقتصادی خرونینگن هنگامی آشکار می‌شود که بدانیم بزرگترین کارخانه شکر جهان و یکی از بزرگترین کارگاههای کشتی سازی جهان در این استان قرار دارد. همچنین خرونینگن دارای منابع گازی زیرزمینی با ارزشی است که از بزرگترین ذخایر گازی در اروپاست.مرکز پزشکی دانشگاه خرونینگن (UMCG) بیمارستانی هزار تختخوابی مجهزی است که در کنار درمان بیماران به تربیت متخصصان و دانشجویان پزشکی نیز می‌پردازد. درسال 2013، دانشگاه خرونینگن برای سومین بار در ردیف بهترین دانشگاه هلند انتخاب شد و در سال 2014 دانشگاه 400 امین سالگرد تاسیس خود را جشن گرفت.
