معرفی دانشگاه کانتربری

 دانشگاه کانتربری دانشگاهیست در شهر کرایست چرچ نیوزیلند که در سال ۱۸۷۳ تأسیس شد. بر اساس آخرین رده‌بندی مؤسسهٔ رتبه‌بندی دانشگاه‌ها QS این دانشگاه در رتبه ۱۸۶ قرار دارد. ارنست رادرفورد فیزیک‌دان بزرگ نیوزیلندی از این دانشگاه فارغ‌التحصیل شده‌است.دانشگاه کانتربری در کرایستچرچ توسط محققانی از دانشگاه آکسفورد و کمبریج در سال ۱۸۷۳ تأسیس شد. این دانشگاه میزبان هزاران نفر از دانشجویان بین‌المللی در بیش از ۴۰ سال است. در حال حاضر بیش از ۲٬۰۰۰ تن از دانشجویان بین‌المللی از ۷۰ کشور ثبت‌نام‌کرده در برنامه‌های مختلف وجود دارند. علاوه بر این، بسیاری از ساکنان مقیم نیوزیلند که اصالتاً از کشورهای دیگر هستند، در این دانشگاه حضور دارند. مدارک و مهارت زبان انگلیسی برای همه دانش‌آموزان که زبان مادری‌شان انگلیسی نیست لازم است. این دانشگاه دارای یک مرکز زبان انگلیسی در محیط دانشگاه است که تخصص در آماده‌سازی دانش‌آموزان برای ورود به دوره مدرک دارد. این دانشگاه دارای یک دوره مقدماتی مطالعات با سه intakes یک ساله برای کمک به دانش‌آموزان برای رسیدن به استانداردهای لازم برای ورود است.

با ورود به دانشگاه کانتربری حس لذت از حضور در یک مکان آموزشی حرفه ای را تمام و کمال تجربه خواهید کرد . دانشگاه کانتربری یک محیط آموزشی بین المللی با دانشکده های متنوع است که زندگی دانشجویی خاصی را رقم می زند . دانشگاه کانتربری زیبا با سبک آموزشی به روز و امکانات تحقیقاتی با مساحت 76 هکتار در فاصله پنج کیلومتری از مرکز شهر قرار دارد . شهری که از کوه نوردی تا گشت و گذار دریایی جزو تفریحات ساکنین آن است . دانشگاه کانتربری از نظر قدمت دومین دانشگاه نیوزیلند می باشد که درسال 1873 تاسیس شده است .

دانشجویان متعددی برای تحصیل دانشگاه کانتربری را انتخاب می کنند . آنها در کلاس های درس رشته های مختلف علمی شرکت می کنند و به وسیله ی کارشناسان خبره و محققان با تجربه ی آن رشته ها ، مدیریت می شوند.  برنامه های زیادی برای کمک به دانشجویان بین المللی وجود دارد تا بیشتر با فرهنگ نیوزیلند آشنا و در عین حال در دوره ی تحصیل خود در دانشگاه کانتربری موفق شوند . در این برنامه ها نه تنها دانشجویان با فضای آموزشی ، شهر کریسچرچ و کشور نیوزیلند آشنا می شوند بلکه شانس آشنایی با دوستان جدیدی که از سرتاسر دنیا برای تحصیل به نیوزیلند آمده اند را خواهند داشت . دانشجویان بین المللی با عضویت در Student Care Team چگونگی زندگی بهتر را در نیوزیلند آموزش می بینند . هدف این گروه این است که شما در نیوزیلند احساس کنید در کشور خودتان زندگی می کنید و از آن نهایت لذت را ببرید . شما دوستانی خواهید داشت که از ابتدای حضورتان در دانشگاه کانتربری با شما همراه خواهند بود و برای حل مشکلات تان هر چند کوچک یا بزرگ به کمک تان خواهند آمد .

هنگامی که کالج کانتربری در سال 1873 تاسیس شد، ، ابتدا به عنوان یکی از تنها دو دانشگاه نیوزلند شناخته می شد. این دانشگاه در ساختمان سنگی باشکوهی در منطقه شهری مرکزی قرار داشت. دانشگاه کنتربری برای رهایی ازاجاره بهای بالا، به شورای ولایتی کانتربری و اوقاف آن وابسته بود. این دانشگاه با الگوی اکسبریج  و با یک تفاوت عمده شروع به کار کرد، و آن این بود که از همان ابتدا شروع به پذیرش دانشجویان زن کرد. و هلن کنون  اولین زنی فارغ التحصیل درامپراتوری بریتانیا بود که موفق به کسب این افتخار شد. ارنست رادرفورد ، یکی از برجسته ترین فارغ التحصیلان کانتربری است که در سال 1890 در این دانشکده تحصیل می کرد. وی به کشف توانایی های علمی ویژه خود در طول یک سال تحصیل در پژوهش کارشناسی ارشد پرداخت و سپس موفق به کسب بورسیله تحصیلی در دانشگاه کمبریج شد. آپیرانا نگتا  یکی از هم عصران رادرفورد و اولین فارغ التحصیل مائوری تبار دانشگاه نیوزلند بود. پرتره این دو نفر، به ترتیب در اسکناس های 100 و 50 دلاری کشور، چاپ شده است.

دانشگاه کنتربری بیشتر 100 سال اول خود را در مرکز کریست چرچ گذراند. تا این که در سال 1975 به ساختمان بزرگ 76 هکتاری خود واقع در حومه شهر ایلم (Ilam) نقل مکان کرد که 7 کیلومتر از شهر قدیمی فاصله داشت. این ساختمان شامل یک مجموعه مرکزی از کتابخانه ها، سالن سخنرانی، آزمایشگاه ها و محل های اسکان کارکنان است که توسط زمینه های بازی، جنگل ها و باغ های مشهور شهر، احاطه شده است. در 1 ژانویه 2007، کالج آموزش کریست چرچ که در همسایگی آن بود و جزو یکی از قدیمی ترین کالج های آموزیش در نیوزلند محسوب می شد با این دانشگاه ادغام و به کالج/ دانشکده ششم UC تبدیل شد.

کانتربری دوره های کارشناسی و کارشناسی ارشد خود را با حدود 50 رشته از حسابداری تا جانورشناسی ارائه می کند. این دانشکده از تعداری مراکز تخصصی پژوهش و پنج پایگاه مهم تخصصی در کیاکورا (Kiakoura)، جان ام تی (John MT) (رصدخانه دانشگاه)، کاس (Cass)، وست پورت (Westport) و هری هری (Harihari) برخوردار است. شش خوابگاه، در خدمت بیش از 2000 دانشجو است. حدود 12،000 دانشجو در این دانشگاه ثبت نام کرده و هر سال حدود 3000 دانشجو در مقطع کارشناسی و 650 تن در مقاطع بالاتر، از آن فارغ التحصیلی می شوند. دانشگاه کنتربری ارتباط خود را با محوطه قدیمی شهر حفظ کرده و در حال حاضر به عنوان اقامتگاهی برای مرکز هنرهای کریس چرچ بوده، و هر سال از آن به عنوان نقطه شروعی برای جمع کردن فارغ التحصیلان خود استفاده می کند.

برای اقامت  می توان از خوابگاه دانشگاه کانتربری استفاده کرد . مساحت پردیس های دانشگاه کانتربری نیوزلند به ۸۷ هکتار می رسد. پردیس ها محیطی بسیار زیبا دارند. در هر یک از پردیس ها انواع امکانات آکادمیکی (کتابخانه، سالن اجتماعات، سالن لکچر، سایت اینترنتی..) و غیر آکادمیکی (کلوب و سالن های ورزشی، کلوب های تفریحی، کافی شاپ، سالن تئاتر،…) برای دانشجویان وجود دارد. خدمات خاص دانشجویان خارجی -از جمله خوابگاه دانشگاه کانتربری –  نیز در هر یک از پردیس ها ارائه می شود.

 کرایست‌چرچ ( christchurch) شهری واقع در استان کانتربری در کشور نیوزیلند است. این شهر ساحلی مهمترین و بزرگ‌ترین کلان‌شهر در جزیره جنوبی (دومین در کل کشور) است. جمعیت کرایست‌چرچ در سال ۲۰۰۹ میلادی ۳۸۶٬۱۰۰ نفر و جمعیت کلان‌شهر (کرایست‌چرچ و حومه) حدوداً ۴۵۰٬۰۰۰ نفر است. کرایست‌چرچ با ۴۵۲ کیلومتر مربع وسعت، مرکز استان کانتربوری است. کرایست‌چرچ از شرق به اقیانوس آرام از جنوب به بلندیهای پرت هیل و از شمال به رودخانه وایماکاریری محدود می‌شود ولی از طرف غرب به دشت کانتربری باز است. رودخانه آوون از مرکز شهر می‌گذرد و در نهایت به اقیانوس آرام می‌ریزد. آب آشامیدنی کرایست‌چرچ دارای بالاترین کیفیت جهانی می‌باشد. شهر کرایست‌چرچ دارای زمستان‌های نسبتاً سرد می‌باشد و برف و یخبندان و دمای زیر صفر درجه عادی می‌باشد. در بهار و پائیز دما معتدل ودر تابستان هوا نسبتاً گرم است.

نسبت جمعیت اروپایی تبارها در کرایست‌چرچ به سایر شهرهای بزرگ نیوزیلند بیشتر می‌باشد که بیشتر آنها نوادگان مهاجران بریتانیایی و ایرلندی هستند اما نوادگان مهاجرانی که از آلمان، ایتالیا، یوگسلاوی، هلند، سوئیس، استرالیا، آمریکا و کانادا آمده‌اند هم جمعیت قابل توجهی دارند. مائوریها و آسیاییها بخش بزرگی از جمعیت را شامل می‌شوند. در کل شهر کرایست‌چرچ دارای جامعه چند فرهنگی می‌باشد که بیش از صد و پنجاه قومیت در آن زندگی می‌کنند و حدوداً ۲۰٪ جمعیت خارج از کشور متولد شدند. دانشگاه کانتربری از دانشگاه‌های مطرح جهان در این شهر قرار دارد. از دانشگاه‌های دیگر در این شهر می‌توان به دانشگاه لینکلن، دانشگاه علوم پزشکی اتاگو و دانشگاه پلی‌تکنیک کرایست‌چرچ اشاره کرد. ارنست رادرفورد، فیزیکدان هسته‌ای برجسته در این شهر به دانشگاه رفت. استان کانتربری دارای نرخ های عالی دستمزد می باشد ، میزان درآمد در این شهر ۱٫۱۵۰ دلار برای هر هفته برای کارکنان تمام وقت می باشد که تنها یک دلار کمتر از اوکلند است . این شهر دارای تعداد فرصت های شغلی مشابهی برای ولینگتون است.
