معرفی دانشگاه تورکو
دانشگاه تورکو سومین دانشگاه بزرگ فنلاند است که در سال 1920 میلادی تاسیس شده است و نزدیک به 20000 دانشجو در این دانشگاه مشغول به تحصیل می باشند. پردیس اصلی دانشگاه در شهر تورکو در جنوب غربی کشور فنلاند واقع شده ولی در شهرهای راوما ، پوری و سالو نیز شعبه دارد. پژوهش های این دانشگاه بر پایه رقابت علمی می باشد و بیشترین زمینه پژوهشی دانشگاه، شامل پژوهش در مورد بیولوژی مولکولی میشود. زمینههای دیگر پژوهشی، پژوهشهای متابولیک و قلبی و عروقی و پژوهشهای مربوط به یادگیری و آموزش میباشند. هدف دانشگاه، آماده کردن دانشجویان برای داشتن مهارتهای ابتکاری جهت حل مشکلات و ایجاد آموزشهای استاندارد بر پایه آخرین پژوهشها، میباشد. دانشگاه بر روی ایجاد جذابیت برای کار پژوهش و تحقیقات، تمرکز قوی دارد. این دانشگاه عضو گروه Coimbra که شامل گروهی از دانشگاه های معتبر در اروپاست. بیش از 1600 دانشجوی بین المللی از 95 کشور مختلف هر سال از این دانشگاه فارغ التحصیل می شوند.
تورکو ( Turku) شهری است که در ساحل جنوب غربی فنلاند و در دهانه رود آورا قرار گرفته است. این باور وجود دارد که تورکو در سده ۱۳ میلادی به وجود آمدهاست که با این حساب آن را باید کهنترین شهر فنلاند دانست. تورکو تبدیل به مهمترین شهر فنلاند شد و این موقعیت را بیش از صد سال نگهداری کرد، اما با الحاق شدن فنلاند به بخشی از امپراتوری روسیه در ۱۸۰۹، پایتخت دوکی بزرگ فنلاند به هلسینکی تغییر پیدا کرد.
